Interview with author and reenacting activist, Lauren Cook Wike
Photos taken during an interview with Lauren Cook Wike, co-author of They Fought Like Demons: Women Soldiers in the American Civil War and An Uncommon Soldier. Ms. Cook fought and won a lawsuit on the grounds of gender discrimination against the National Park Service in the early 1990s when she was barred from a Civil War reenactment because women were not allowed to portray soldiers.
2013 Battle of Gettysburg 150th Anniversary Reenactment (Gettysburg Anniversary Committee Event)
Photos taken during the second of two 2013 reenactments commemorating the 150th Anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg in Gettysburg, PA, fought from July 1-3, 1863. The second event was held by the Gettysburg Anniversary Committee (GAC) the weekend of July 4-7, 2013. Photos feature reeanctors from the 6th New York Independent Battery.
